ETHICAL SOURCING

GLAMIRA has a strong commitment to ethics, human rights, civil liberties, and everyone's fundamental freedoms. Both we and our sources work to meet the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility.

GLAMIRA obtains diamonds only from countries that participate fully in the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme (KPCS). This international cooperative monitoring system was created in an attempt to cut the flow of "conflict diamonds" in the import and export of rough diamonds. The Kimberly Process requires members to tightly control diamond purchases so as to avoid financing violent rebel movements.

About Kimberley Process

The Kimberly Process started when the diamond-producing states of southern Africa met in Kimberly, South Africa in May 2000. The agreement has been in force since 2003 and is open to all countries. As of 2013, it boasted 54 participants representing 81 countries including those of the European Union and the United States. Its initiatives help prevent the flow of diamonds coming from conflict zones as defined by the United Nations.

The KPCS guarantees that all rough diamonds that cross international borders between signatory countries are conflict free.

GLAMIRA wholeheartedly agrees with the KPCS goals and certifies that all of its diamonds come with written guarantees from the suppliers attesting to their compliance with the Kimberly Process.
